Above Flaxmill Bay Tucked beneath the western slopes of Shakespeare Cliff Reserve lies Flaxmill Bay. From the surrounding farmland, a glimpse is framed through the limbs of a pohutukawa, across the gentle curve of the bay and it’s calm waters to Wharekaho and Maungatawhiri beyond. It was the tranquil beauty of this fleeting view, with it’s soft light and subtle colours, that inspired this painting.
