Deep in the Garden - Red Gingko is a semi-abstract botantical piece inspired by my love of gardens and the feeling of being sheltered and embraced beneath tree shadow, with shafts of sunlight breaking through and highlighting the lush, jewel-coloured foliage.

Kotuku Moon is one of a series of paintings featuring Kotuku (white heron) in an illustrative, semi-abstract style. It depicts the elegant lines of a Kotuku in flight above a pond reflecting the glow of the golden moon above, through raupo waving in the foreground. This dreamlike compostion combines simple shapes woven together with flowing clouds, shadows and a landscape thats rolls gently into the distance.

Tidal Reflection, Hahei - Endlessly inspiring, Hahei reveals a different mood with every visit. One of my favourites is the hour before sunset when the light is golden and the eastern sky is reflected in pools and patterns left by the receding tide. From the pinkish-gold of the sand at my feet, across the water to the rich warm glow of late sunlight on Mahurangi Island, this compostion captures a luminous moment during an evening walk.

Beach Bonfire evokes memories of beach gatherings, particularly early childhood camping holidays with my extended family on the Thames Coast. The warmth of a blazing fire contrasts with the chill of the late evening air, the dark sea, and the fading glow of sunset on the horizon. You can almost smell woodsmoke and hear the crackle of the flames.

Hahei Hillside depicts the pool that forms near the north-western end of Hahei Beach, where a small stream flows down beside the reserve above. During a peaceful early summer walk, I paused awhile to enjoy the tranquil scene of pohutukawa in full bloom and the hillside baches reflected like a mirror in the still water.
